Why Would Jesus Leave Heaven to Be With Us?
The God of the Universe who is worshiped constantly, where everything is absolutely as it should be, left heaven to be with us? Why would He do that?
The Prince of Peace has come. But maybe you’re thinking, "Then where is the peace?" Fair question. It's a conversation about where the peace is right now, (because it is here), and how not to give into despair because it's not fully here.
Shawna has been praying the same prayer for years. Stepping into a new year with the same request is disheartening. She cried out to God, explaining that if He would just answer this prayer she could become who He created her to be. That’s when she sensed God saying something she did not expect. At all.
Perry wonders, "Who am I that God would want to be with me?" And then, "I wonder if Mary thought, 'Who am I that God would want me to bear his Son?'"
Shawna shares what surfaced for her as she reflected on what God has taught her in 2023 and how Isaiah 41:13 reminds her of how safe we are because God is with us.
Then, “How are you?” We hear those words so often we usually don’t believe the person asking the question actually wants to know. It’s possible to have the same casual response to hearing the words, “God loves you.”
Last, life is the journey of learning to trust God, of learning whether we trust him enough to leap into his arms, whether we trust him enough to catch us.
