1: Race, Justice Issues, and the Police-Where Do You Stand?

The issue itself seems polarizing, forcing you to take a stand--You are either for social justice OR you support law enforcement. There is a great divide between the African American community and law enforcement officers in Chattanooga and in the country. The question isn't, "Do things need to change?" The question is, "How can we bring about effective change?" An intersection does exist that allows us to stand for justice AND in support of law enforcement. Now, how do we get there?

Dannah Vaugh is the Assistant Chief of Police with the Chattanooga Police Department. CLICK HERE to learn more.

2: Liberty and Justice for All? Surprising Facts Suggest Otherwise

If we truly are innocent until proven guilty, should people, in due process, sit in jail simply because they cannot post bail before their trial begins? Over half of the inmates in Hamilton County are in jail awaiting trial. This costs the taxpayers of Hamilton County $57,000 daily, or over $20 million dollars annually on average. Who does the system actually benefit? Those who cannot post bail tend to be the poor and vulnerable of society. Allen Shropshire is the Organizer of CALEB, a coalition of faith-based, labor, and community groups working to effect change in Chattanooga.
