Please pray about how you can help your neighbors in the areas affected by the recent tornadoes.

Several community organizations are accepting volunteers, donations, and other aid for those impacted by Tuesday’s tornado. If you would like to help those in need, please contact these organizations:

• Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee has activated the Middle Tennessee Emergency Response Fund to support the affected communities and the nonprofits who are helping victims address their needs.
• Community Resource Center accepts donations of personal hygiene items, bleach, trash bags, gloves, and box cutters. 
• Hands-On Nashville works with the City of Nashville and the Office of Emergency Management to coordinate volunteers. 
• United Way of Rutherford and Cannon Counties accepts donations to assist with tornado recover. Donations may be made by texting RELIEF2020 to 41444 to give via mobile. They report that 100% of funds will support relief efforts.
• Disaster Distress Helpline (800-985-5990) provides immediate counseling to anyone in need of help coping with the mental or emotional effects of the storms. The helpline is 24-hours-a-day and free.

Road Information

On Monday, March 9, 2020, in Nashville, 2nd Avenue from James Robertson Parkway to Taylor Street will be CLOSED from 6am to 6pm in order for Nashville Electric Service crews to continue power restoration in the area. 

Volunteer Information

Volunteers should avoid parking along the street, blocking roads or walking in the street as they work on tornado damage cleanup so as not to block the efforts of emergency vehicles and other work crews.

The Nashville Office of Emergency Management has launched a park-and-ride service for volunteers going to North and East Nashville.

Volunteers can park in Lot R of Nissan Stadium. Shuttles will take you to recovery areas of greatest need, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Those working with Hands On Nashville should continue to use Nissan parking lots G, M, A, B, and D.

In Donelson and Hermitage, volunteers are asked to park at Mount Gilead Missionary Baptist Church, located at 4004 Lebanon Pike.

Ministering After Middle Tennessee Tornadoes

Following deadly tornadoes that ripped through middle Tennessee—including downtown Nashville—Billy Graham Rapid Response Team chaplains are in the hardest-hit areas offering emotional and spiritual care.

Needs/Donations Drop-off Locations

Davidson County-Nashville

The Nashville Rescue Mission's Campus for Women and Children, located in the Salemtown/Buena Vista/Germantown area, could utilize donations of the following:

• Individually wrapped sandwiches or the supplies to make them
• Individual servings of chips, fruit cups, drinks, etc.
• Coffee made and delivered
• Ice
• Sodas with caffeine
• Body wipes
• Hand & foot warmers (may get cold overnight)
• Batteries (AAA, AA, & D)
• Flashlights
• Bath towels
• Battery-operated fans
• Battery-operated lanterns

Nonperishable items may be dropped off at 1716 Rosa L. Parks Blvd., Nashville, TN 37208.

Perishable food items may be dropped off at 616 7th Avenue South, Nashville, TN 37203. (open Monday-Saturday 7-7).

Lee Chapel AME (1200 Dr. DB Todd Jr. Boulevard) is accepting donations and providing items for storm victims.

Kingdom Cafe (2610 Jefferson Street) is accepting donations and providing items for storm victims.

Jefferson Street Missionary Baptist Church (2708 Jefferson Street) is accepting and distributing donations of toiletries, diapers, clothing, towels, and bottled water.

Wilson County

• Donations toward the relief effort can be taken to the Mt. Juliet Church of Christ at 1940 N. Mt. Juliet Road. The following items are being accepted: trash bags, hammers/nails, Tylenol/Ibuprofen, sunscreen, bottled water, ziploc bags, shovel, work gloves, baby wipes, lysol wipes. Clothing is currently not being taken.

Putnam County-Cookeville Area

Cash donations are accepted at any Bank of Putnam County location or on Venmo: @CookevillePutnamCountyTornado or Paypal: @CookevillePutnamCountyTornadoReliefFund . These are the only designated accounts with 100% of donations going directly to the impacted victims.

Other Locations

• Black Rifle Coffee Company in Manchester is hosting a charity drive to support relief efforts. Donations of personal hygiene items and cleaning supplies can be dropped off at Black Rifle Coffee Shop at 621 Park Tower Road in Manchester, TN.
  
  
  

Pets

Donations are being accepted at Metro Animal Care & Control (5125 Harding Place) for its Pet Food Bank. Food as well as collars and leashes are needed.
